Israeli Prime Minister calls U.S. imposed sanctions on Iran ‘courageous and historic’
Israel’s prime minister is defending President Trump’s decision to reimpose sanctions on Iran by calling the move “historic.”
During a meeting with Israeli legislators Monday, Benjamin Netanyahu said the sanctions help restrict Iran’s “terror regime.” He added, the penalties have already made an impact on Iran’s economy as U.S. allies cave into pressure to reverse oil dependency on the country.
Netanyahu, who has been a fierce opponent of the 2015 Iran Nuclear Deal, is crediting President Trump for escalating pressure on the regime.

“I would like again to thank U.S. President Donald Trump for a courageous decision, determined and important — I think that this matter contributes to stability, security and peace,” stated the Israeli prime minister. “It is true that there could yet be bumps on the road, but this must be approached from a very forthright and steadfast position — morally, economically and security-wise.”
This comes after Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced the U.S. would penalize any company that evades sanctions on Iran.
